Sharath Kamal

As you are at aware that I have performed my career best so far at the ‘recently Asian Games at Jakarta 2018 by winning 2 bronze medals (Team Events and Mixed Doubles) which is history in the field of table tennis for the last six decades ever since the table tennis discipline was inducted into the Asian Games.

On this momentous occasion i would like to share with all of you, the Journey towards the historic win. Way back in 2004 i won the commonwealth Championship at Malaysia being the first Indian to have ever done that. I had repeated the same performance in the Commonwealth Games in 2006 at Ansuehe wherein my personal journey into achieving higher accolades in the international arena has taken a strong footing. These achievements had been the necessary stimulus for garnering support . for table tennis from various quarters such as TTFI. SAI, SDAT, TNTTA, Corporates and other sporting NGOS.

The TTFI with the support of SAI had begun extensive Yee’ long training camps under various experienced foreign coaches such as Hubert Hustache, Massimo Costantini, Peter Engel and others. These camps under the foreign coaches have really stabilized the Indian standards in the international arena producing a number of players winning medals in various categories like Fade, Junior, Youth and Seniors. These various developmental programmes by1,1 and SAI ,well supported by Sports Development Authority of Tamilnadu and Tamithadu Table Tennis Association besides the support from corporates have culminated into creating a strong platform for us to win medals at international arena.

The present Indian team has been undergoing vigorous training for the last 2 years under Massimo Costantini attending training imps in China and Europe and playing extensively the Pro Tours and other internationi tournaments. These exposures to international tournaments have paid rich dividends in the form of winning highest number of medals at the Commonwealth Games 2018 and the Historic medal winning performances at the Asian Games 2018 Jakarta.

With these performances the Indian Team and the coach are highly motivated to achieve the ultimate dream of an Olympic Games medal at the 2020 Games On this momentous occasion of winning these historic medals at Commonwealth and Asian Games I would like to recall the tireless efforts of my personal coaches Shri. A. Srinivasa Rao NIS and A. Muralidhar Rao who have been my coaches from 1988.

They have been my fountain of knowledge in the game of Table Tennis creating a dream in me and nurturing/fostering the same, standing by me through ‘,hi, and tn.. my performances all these 30 years. I dedicate thi, historical victory to my coaches Shri. A Srinivasa Rao NIS and Shri . A. Muralidhar Rao I would also like to thank my employer IndianOil Corporation for being a great pillar of support throughout my Table Tennis career
